Pittacum Aurea 2017
Pittacum Aurea 2017
Descriptions
The winter was generally mild and February brought the lowest temperatures of the season, keeping the vines in a state of vegetative rest.
A long, cold and wet spring considerably delayed the budburst with the last of rainfall occurring well into the first week of June.
We started harvesting on 19 September and finished on 15 October. The weather in the El Bierzo region was perfect with cool nights contrasting with dry, mild days over the harvesting period. This gave us rich wines with excellent balance and freshness.
Tasting Notes: Rich color. Elegant, red fruit, cherry and currants, pure Menda fragrance. Later the mineral component appears as earth and stone. Structured in the mouth, balanced and fresh, ends after a long palate. A clean, straightforward and deep wine.
Food Pairing: Lamb roasts, beef and game stews cooked in wine, grilled meats are some examples of the many other food preparations that are ideal to be paired with Pittacum Aurea, such as, fish cooked in their own juices. We recommend avoiding very hot spicy flavors.
